Nokia N81 8GB disassembly

Tools required: Torx 6 screwdriver

Using a plastic shim, such as a guitar plectrum or credit card, lift the top keypad away from the phone.

You should now have the top keypad removed, like below.

Run your fingernail, or plastic shim, to unclip the bottom keypad surround. You can then remove the keypad.

You should now have the keypad removed, like below. Now remove the four screws you can see.

Use your plastic shim to lift the display window away from the rest of the phone. It is held in place by a light adhesive so will require some force.

The display window should now be removed.

Carefully lift the edge of the top keypad part. This is held down with adhesive. Once you have a corner lifted up, peel this part back carefully.

You now have access to the LCD ribbon connector, circled below. This attaches like a plug and socket. Simply pull the connector away from its socket to unplug it.

Lift the screen away from the rest of the phone. Your phone should now look like below and you can replace the LCD. Reverse the whole procedure for reassembly.
